Conference Schedule
The top 1% have used terrorism scares, wars and financial sleight of hand to grab more power and wealth than ever. Globalisation has been used to undermine democracy. We face a crisis of civilisation.
Many of the activities of the ruling 1% - for instance the invasion of Iraq or the torture networks - are literally criminal, but still downplayed by a cowed and centralised media and shrugged off by politicians who put party loyalty before the law. This blatant impunity has led to a sense of hopelessness which limits support for many campaigns.
However in the information age new media are undermining central control.
This second SCADS Conference, will:-
* assess some of the key crimes of the top1%,
* challenge the corporate media and discuss the feasibility of an alternative current affairs TV programme to go out on satellite and the internet.
* hear from a range of campaigns and discuss the reforms needed for any campaign seeking peace and justice

Ellen Brown, leading US campaigner for public banking interviewed by Ian Henshall on Skype, on how the banks make money for nothing out of the interest on the credit they create.

Nafeez Ahmed, international relations expert: Al Qaeda returns to its original role as an ally of NATO, used to destabilise target governments.
12.30 - 1.00. The CIA's role in 9/11 and the Fast and Furious Scandal
Ian Henshall, author of 9/11 The New Evidence: Washington officials now admit that a network in the CIA decided to protect the alleged 9/11 hijackers from arrest by the FBI. Meanwhile Obama officials admit to arming a key Mexican drug cartel.

1.30 - 2.00 How programme makers twisted the story to fit the BBC's 9/11 agenda.
Emily Church, student, was selected to be on the BBC's Conspiracy Roadshow. She recounts how they twisted the story, and edited the comments of 9/11 sceptics to make them look stupid.
2.00 - 2.20 The official story: why do people believe it
David Southwell on cognitive dissonance and other psychological factors.
2.20 - 2.40 The campaign to wake up the BBC Trust
Human rights lawyer Paul Warburton reports on the progress of the letter writing campaign and how we can all help. Noel Glynn on the alternative BBC blog.
2.40 - 3.00 Is it feasible to make a live independent UK TV news programme, to go out on satellite and youtube?
